The biggest challenge for photographers in Iowa is finding something to shoot during the cold and dreary winters.
Sometimes the best solution to this problem is to find a girl who wants to play, put her in a warm room, and add some light.
Then, with a lot of patience and a little luck, you might get that special shot.
Now add a thousand hours of Photoshop training, mix in some creative dodging and burning, and "Volia", an award winner emerges.
This photo was chosen "Best Of Show" by the judges for the 2006 Iowa State Fair Photography Salon.

Here she is out of costume. Different time, different place. Chiara is from Italy. She lived in Iowa for the 2005-2006 school year as a foreign exchange student.
